JOSHUA DALTON
MY RECENT
CAREER
Actor-Dancer-Singer
THE ADDAMS FAMILY MUSICAL
April 2018
I was cast in the role of Lucas the normal boy. The rehearsal process was over a few months. In those months I was given vocal training and choreography. I learned very quickly that if I put my mind to it I could be a very good dancer. It took lots of practice and dedication to the show but I loved learning the new dances and styles. My vocal performance also increased drastically further proving to myself that when I put in the effort and set my mind to it I can do a lot more than I give myself credit for. My fellow cast members said they enjoyed working with me and both my director and vocal instructors said they looked forward to working with me again.
MOLIÈRE'S THE IMAGINARY INVALID
November 2018
I was cast in the role of Cleante the overly flamboyant lover. The rehearsal process for this show was amazing and unique. It came with many challenges. By working with my fellow actors, our choreographer, our vocal instructor and our director, I was able to overcome many of the obstacles and perform an amazing show that people loved. I learned a lot about character work in this show. I had a lot of great talent around me and I learned about character choices, motivation, and emotion in this play more than in any other. I gained a lot more of an appreciation for dancing and singing through this show that carried on to other shows I would do.
PETER PAN
February 2019
I was cast as Peter Pan in Cast A and Peter Pan's Shadow in Cast B for EGMTC's showing of Peter Pan. It was a very strange rehearsal process because there were two casts so I learned my lines as Peter Pan and would learn blocking and line delivery for that one rehearsal and the next I would learn the songs the dances and the blocking for ensemble members. This show made me very adaptable and proactive as it required me to keep my focus and manage a busy schedule. This made developing specific character relationships rather difficult but helped me ultimately become stronger in my independent acting. I worked mainly with the directors of this performance and they disclosed that they were proud of the work I had done and expressed admiration that I have consistently done great work in the past.
RODGER AND HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA
April 2019
I was cast to play the role of Prince Topher in Roger and Hammerstein's Cinderella put on by Sheldon High School Theatreworks program. As in many of the Theatreworks productions, Cinderella's rehearsal process was very organized and fluid. I was called upon to be an example to the newer cast members and did my best to demonstrate the many great traits that newer actors have yet to learn. I gained many opportunities to grow as a leader and as an actor and I enjoyed every second of it. I enjoyed every moment of Cinderella and loved working with the amazing actors, crews, musical accompanists, choreographers, and of course our wonderful director.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO AND JULIET
November 2019
I was cast in the role of Tybalt Capulet in a '90s adaptation of a classic story and I have never had so much fun with a role in my life. I have loved all previous roles but playing Tybalt was my first time trying out a sort of method acting. An hour before each rehearsal I listened to music that made me angry and while I stayed respectful to my other cast members I wanted to always be moody and angry and I think that really showed through. In addition to the vastly different emotion of the character there were a lot of fight scenes in which I even got to co-choreograph with Elliot Herzer and I had a lot of fun with that as well. I loved every part of this amazing show.
